St. Mary's County, Maryland Is Chesapeake Bays Best Kept Secret.

St. Mary's County, Maryland is surrounded by beautiful rivers and breathtaking lakes such as, Potomac River, Little Wicomico River, Luckton Run, Moll Dyers Run, Wicomico. It was first cited in provincial records in 1637, which marked its official establishment. This Chesapeake Bay destination has a vibrant, yet diverse culture inundated with people, monuments, libraries and museums filled with history. It consists of eight towns; California, Charlotte Hall, Golden Beach, Lexington Park, Mechanicsville, Piney Point, St. George Island and Tall Timbers, all possessing their contribution to this hidden jewel.

For a whopping ten bucks or eight if you are a student, you can go back to the 17th century and experience the birth site of Maryland on board the Maryland Dove, a replica square-rigged ship. The museum offers something for everyone, from archaeology, nature trails surrounded by water and intriguing stories told of the immigrated people whom migrated in search of a new life etc. For those who enjoy an occasional cigar or pipe, the Godiah Spray Tobacco Plantation, a working colonial farm won't disappoint.

 The museum is located at, 47418 Old State House Road, St. Mary’s City, Maryland. In for the military enthusiasts St. Mary's County has one of the most mind-blowing flight-line fleets, that is home to 22 one of a kind exotic aircraft. The Patuxent River Naval Air Museum is free and most of the aircrafts you can climb inside for a closer peek. Further, the museum has just gone through a multimillion dollar renovation and it is equipped with state of the art technology. 

If you are passionate about the arts, enjoy nature and prefer a more intimate campus, St. Mary's College of Maryland is worth scheduling a visit. As stated on its website, the college was established in 1840 and is a U.S. public, secular and co-educational four-year liberal arts college.

NAS Patuxent River Air Expo featuring The Blue Angels and the World-famous St. Mary's County U.S. Oyster Festival. Fox stated it is ranked number one on the east coast. In addition, Bernans (2016) wrote about the upcoming US National Championships at St. Mary’s County Oyster Festival, Maryland. Which will take place in October 2017. "This is the most competitive oyster event in the American calendar. The winner of this event takes the title of National Champion and gets to represent the United States at the World Championships in Galway" (Bernans, 2016). The beautiful thing about St. Mary's is its surrounded by seafood. I promise, you have never had a lobster melt in your mouth until you visit Jerry's Place located in Prince Fredrick, Maryland. The seafood will have your pallet pleading for more. I'm convinced their diving in the river every time a seafood order is placed. The hospitality and service makes you feel as if your dining at a relative’s house. Everyone knows Maryland has the best crab cakes, right? Now that we have established that, come on down to Captain Pats Seafood. It's a no-frills hole in the wall with crab cakes so good, it will change life.
